Cynthia began learning upholstery as a child in her mom’s home based business and has been working professionally since 2001. Her real passion, however, is for education and training systems. As a vocal advocate and respected craftswoman, she has traveled across the country to speak, teach, and apply her craft. Cynthia is incredibly proud of the high quality work our students and instructors consistently demonstrate.

Lindsay Orwig began as a enthusiast DIYer. As her reupholstered finds began to attract the attention of friends and family, her hobby grew from side hustle to successful small business. She joined The Funky Little Chair as a charter student and soon became a key part of the Minneapolis instructor team. In addition to managing her own growing client base, Lindsay is the creator and lead administrator of The Professional Upholsterers’ Network – a trade-only forum with nearly 3,000 active members.
Advanced Instructor, St.Paul
Sarah Sanna graduated with a degree in chemical engineering with an emphasis on environmental science. While working for 3M as new homeowner, Sarah began to acquire antique furnishings and set out to learn about restoring them, through night classes and extensive research/practice. She eventually left corporate life to focus on being a mom and launching her highly respected home-based business. Sarah loves sharing knowledge and seeing how the experience of fixing something empowers us. “We need more people to have these skills.”
Michelle Minner specializes in custom furniture upholstery and loves helping her clients bring their visions to life. She fell into the upholstery trade by accident. As a DIY blogger looking for a project she decided to try her hand at re-upholstering an old chair and fell in love with the transformation process. Self taught, Michelle is passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting fellow upholsterers.
Carla Pyle owns Natural Upholstery in Livingston, MT. An obsessive explorer, she has worked as a wildlife biologist, textile artist, furniture designer and upholsterer. She has been an active promoter of healthy upholstery since she helped develop a line of organic and sustainable furniture in 2009. She has been teaching modern upholstery since 2011, working with students using both conventional and natural/organic materials.

Olli works at Grahn’s Upholstery in St Paul, MN and is a multi-disciplinary artist working in the vibrant arts community of Minneapolis. Her background is in theater, puppetry and book arts (with a focus on printing & book-binding). As an arts educator, she has taught in the fabulous arts organizations of the Twin Cities for nearly 15 years teaching book arts, puppetry, kinetic art, & cardboard sculpture.
